Name: Allison
Me: Off to Russia to continue my Honor's Project research. Saint Petersburg is the first stop, to interview Konstantin Markovich Azadovsky who spent 1981-1983 as a political prisoner in the most notorious prison camp in Russia, Kolyma. Then, 4 days on Solovetsky Island: home of the first GULAG prison, and within 150km of the arctic circle. Finally, it's back to St. Petersburg, New York and Bowdoin.
More Stuff
- Great overview of the GULAG
- The Azadovsky Affair

First the cliffhanger about whether they would get packed in time and now the the cliffhanger about whether they will find giardia-free toothbrushing water, such SUSPENSE, Allison! I loved the description of the earthy "Mother Russia" smell. It was the next best thing to being there. Have a great trip. MbF
allison, stop being such a tool. everyone knows you're just in rehab. don't lie.
Ah, and somewhere in the midst of all this you managed to find a computer to keep us all updated, yay! Good luck out there :) HP
Goodness! That entryway can be likened to the Waldorf compared to the building Mom and I stayed in--and compared to the building you lived in as I recall it.
